Museums, Collections & Archives

A growing network of collection holders now offer their own Magic Content Exchange channels to teachers and learners.

Magic provides cultural heritage collections with:

  • services to harvest and aggregate content into dedicated channels
  • feedback and reporting on the use of assets
  • access to tools to create and publish new learning resources direct to schools and the internet

Teachers and learners can now benefit directly through the creative use of collections for learning and education by the collections themselves. Resources can be made available directly via the Magic Content Exchange to schools or through a collection's own web site.

Teacher and learners can also customise and build their own resources using curriculum-tagged content from the collections.

Collections have complete control of their resources and their channel and can decide:

  • whether assets are avaialble free or to apply a fee
  • what licence to apply to assets
  • the contextual metadata to provide

There is no cost to being an Approved Content Provider and it is non-exclusive. Assets can be harvested via a content API or uploaded in bulk.

We understand copyright and licencing are important issues, Magic has a licencing model built in which allows assets to be made available for non-commercial use. Specific licences can be added to collections if required.

Join English Heritage, Bridgeman Education and Renaissance East Midlands and create your own channel for schools and learners.

Publishers

The Magic Content Exchange is enabling commercial publishers to provide an exciting and flexible 'pay as you go' approach alongside conventional education content subscriptions.

Using Magic Credits, schools and individual teachers can buy access to any premium, fee carrying digital content as and when they need to use it. This is a great model in that users only need to buy what they need and can do as and when they need it in bite sized chunks.

Magic takes care of all the details for the Publishing partners so they can gain revenues from these micro transactions as and when they occur. Commercial Publishers also enjoy the same benefits of being a channel partner as our cultural heritage collection partners;

  • Another route to engaging with teachers and learners
  • Brand exposure of the publishers own online service to Magic users
  • Detailed reporting on content usage by learners and teachers
  • Content licensing and curriculum tagging features
  • Access to interactive tools to add value to their digital asset feeds
  • Simple integration technology requiring little or no investment of time to get up and running
